Be honest, tell us what you think of the new site.

May 7th, 2010  /  OFC Announcements

The new site is designed to tell the story of a creative company whose technical capabilities have grown infinitely more sophisticated over the past few years.

Our old site was designed to demonstrate our design strength and to show off our ability to create custom interface experiences. It served us well. Throughout the redesign process, we continued to hear great feedback about it. Every time a client told us they loved it, we cringed a little, wondering whether or not we were doing the right thing by redoing it. But we knew we had to make a change because our capabilities, portfolio and client list has grown much more nuanced over the last few years. So, we gave ourselves the very challenging assignment of producing a site that was every bit as beautiful but infinitely more functional and manageable.

Synopsis of New Features and Content

  • Built upon an open-source CMS that allows us to make more frequent content updates and generate on-the-fly custom urls in pitch situations.
  • Sorting, filtering and search features allow visitors to experience our work section more efficiently.
  • Integrated social media outlets allow us to reach our audiences wherever they like while increasing our SEO footprint.
  • Integrated Twitter and Facebook feeds bring the conversation full circle.
  • Additionally, the site is mobile-friendly, a growing concern for all our clients these days.
  • Updated capabilities section better demonstrates the breadth of services we offer today.
  • OFC Blog feature built upon WordPress platform allows for efficient news and opinion updates, pushes fresh content via RSS feeds and makes info more available for search engines.
  • Use of jQuery features provide fluid motion for mobile and desktop users alike.

We’d love to hear what you think. It’s an ongoing process, as any website should be.

Do you like us on Facebook?

Part design and development laboratory, part circus.

Come one, come all. Come hang with us on Facebook. Whether you’re part of our staff, a client, a colleague at a company we collaborate with, an old friend, family or just an interested passerby, we’d love to have you join the conversation. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by smart, creative people so this is our forum for getting everyone in the same room. Some of our favorite moments are those that go undocumented – a great lunch conversation, something odd we saw from our rooftop patio or an insightful link that must be passed on.

We’ll also be using our Facebook page as a digital Petri dish of sorts, allowing us to satisfy curiosities we have about design and development related issues.

We would be honored if you “liked” us!

OFC Launches YouTube Channel

Expanding our brand’s digital reach, increasing our SEO footprint and showing off our motion graphics and video design capabilities.

We found that quite a few people didn’t know that we also love doing motion graphics and video design. It’s a natural extension of the work we’re more well known for, brand identity and web design / development. But with this capability, we find we can tap into a more immediate, emotional reaction among audiences. Our YouTube channel gives us access to a wider audience who may not ever visit our website otherwise and the extended online presence helps our search engine ranking.

We had a client give us a glowing testimonial recently that sums up why we think this is a growth area for our business:

“Openfield Creative took the time to understand and internalize our business at a visceral level – you wanted to know “what” we were doing before you asked “how” we were doing it. In fact, I don’t think we even showed you the software on the first call, and the software never seemed to be the actual center of our discussions when we talked. You understood that we’re not just pushing technology.  So many of the marketing firms just take “the product” and repackage it in various ways and shove it back to the customer to take out to the market – but there is no ’story’. It’s a shell that lacks the passion and captivation that a real story contains – we wanted a “mini-movie”. Your ability to understand actually what it means to seek to make better decisions – and how to tell that story and represent it visually in a new and exciting way – was the point of brilliance. Because of the talent of your team and your confidence in motion graphics – what I will call a ‘cinematic effect’ – that meant that you weren’t constrained in your thinking. And so what came out of that was a theme and the movie-like quality of telling our story in 2+ minutes. We are getting phone calls from the local ad run we are doing – people love it.”

– John Saaty, CEO, Decision Lens

We live to hear that type of feedback. We enjoy doing this kind of work, and that’s a good thing, because motion graphics and video storytelling is growing exponentially on the web.

We added and deleted some walls around our office.

Updating our space to accommodate growth and efficiency.

We love our office with its exposed brick, rooftop patio and convenient downtown location. So when we forecasted growth in the company, we knew we had to do a little remodeling to make it into a space we could all be comfortable working in in the future. Walling in the kitchen creates additional collaboration space in the studio area and the hole we cut through the partners’ office into the conference room opens everything up on the upper level. Throw in a 54 inch plasma screen to make our work look better than ever and you’ve got a killer home away from home.
